(Average 25 hours)
The Director of Parks & Recreation is responsible for the development and administration of Town indoor & outdoor parks & recreation programs. Including summer camps, beach & lifeguards, sports league coordination, oversee parks maintenance contract, Town-wide events, coordinate with schools and community center for location and programs. Report to First Selectman, work with P&R Commission, and supervise seasonal staff. Manage budget and develop self-funding programs. Hours are flexible daily depending upon need –more hours in summer vs winter due to programs.
Minimum qualifications require an Associates Degree in Recreation or Leisure Services with 3-5 years of recreation experience in organizations similar to municipalities including supervision experience; or any equivalent combination of education, experience & training. Bachelor’s Degree can substitute for 2 years of experience. Must have Valid Driver’s license. Will consider graduating students
